Debbie was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in [year]. Over the fight that followed she beat cancer three times, came through a stem-cell transplant, and stood back up after graft-versus-host disease, infection after infection, and complications that never seemed to arrive one at a time. [One line about how she carried it — the thing people who visited her kept saying afterward.]

During those long stays, she was introduced to watercolor. [How it started — an art therapist, a volunteer program, a friend who brought a paint set.] From a hospital bed, with an IV pole for company, she painted — and kept painting — until the work filled walls. Some of it will hang on this site soon.

Debbie passed in [month] 2026, at [age], from complications of AML. That same year, her husband Ryan, her sister Sandra, and her best friend Audrey started this foundation — so that what painting gave her can reach the next person in that bed.
